The SMART goal-setting

The SMART goal-setting method is a framework for setting clear, achievable, and effective goals. SMART is an acronym that stands for:

1. **Specific**: The goal should be clear and specific, answering the questions: What do I want to accomplish? Why is this goal important? Who is involved? Where is it located? What resources or limits are involved?

2. **Measurable**: The goal should be measurable, meaning you should have criteria for measuring progress and success. This answers the question: How will I know when it is accomplished? What metrics or milestones will I use to track progress?

3. **Achievable**: The goal should be realistic and attainable, considering available resources and constraints. This answers the question: How can the goal be accomplished? What steps are necessary? Is the goal reasonable?

4. **Relevant**: The goal should align with broader objectives or long-term aspirations. It should answer: Does this goal matter? Is it worthwhile? Does it align with other goals or the larger mission?

5. **Time-bound**: The goal should have a specific timeline or deadline, answering: When will the goal be achieved? What can be accomplished in the next six months? What can be done today?

By following the SMART criteria, individuals and organizations can create goals that are clear, trackable, and achievable, leading to greater motivation and success.
